Selling machinery is out of the question since most of the valuable machines and equipment are custom made or immovable. The other thing is, other debtors have put a caveat on what they financed. Proparco financed the Cogen plant while Ecobank financed the distillery and this makes the receivership messy. I have seen the receiver manager make claims he will run the factory soon. To be honest, that man is a joker of some sort. It won't happen due to the current state of the factory and lack of expertise unless KCB is willing to spend more than they are claiming. KCB isn't claiming much in comparison to other banks. Sooner, they will realise they are throwing good money after bad. If I were the honcho at KCB, I would start considering this as a bad debt.

Load of bullshit. It will take a couple of weeks just to get the distillery and ethanol boiler DCS system up. That will involve bringing in Honeywell electrical/instruments engineers from the other side of the world and that, too, will depend on goodwill for they are already owed couple of millions. I also doubt there is staff left to carry out meaningful operations but of course there is luck in our lives.

Quote from 2019 - 2020 Budget.

Sugar Companies
Mr. Speaker, you will recall that H.E. The President appointed a Task Force in November 2018 to review our sugar industry with a view to addressing the challenges in the sector. The Government will implement the recommendations from the Task Force, and in the meantime, pay all outstanding debts owned by sugarcane farmers.

university reforms are critical at this stage. We shall review all the Universities’ public financial and management systems; appraise ongoing projects with a view to
