KPLC headed the KQ way?

"Under the directive to guide Budget preparation for the 2020/21 financial year, Mr Yatani said that the Treasury will review the financial health of all parastatals and corporations for possible folding up, merging or restructuring, pointing to an uncertain future ahead for the entities."

Kplc cannot be affected by this directive. Too big to fail status, crucial service and a monopoly.

LOL! A 2013 parastatal reform report is gathering dust. Do not take this Government seriously.

There is no implication of merger but the key word is "restructuring" and possibilities range from debt-to-equity conversion all the way to deeply dilutive events.

January 4 2019 --> Kenya Power freeze the signing of new power purchase agreements (PPAs) indefinitely, citing financial constraints and excess capacity.

February 6, 2020 --> Kenya Power, Lamu farm sign 20-year wind electricity deal

What has changed?

This dying firm has now issued a profit warning for the financial year ending on 30th June. Covid-19 has become a very convenient excuse for all ailing companies.
