Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed Ban last week, saying he gave a "tailwind to terrorism" after the secretary-general put some of the blame on Israel for four months of stabbings and car rammings by Palestinians.
Ban, who will step down at the end of 2016 after 10 years as U.N. chief, had told the U.N. Security Council that it is "human nature to react to occupation."
"I will always stand up to those who challenge Israel’s right to exist," Ban said in the Times, "just as I will always defend the right of Palestinians to have a state of their own. That is why I am so concerned that we are reaching a point of no return for the two-state solution."
The United States and the European Union - Israel's closest allies - also have had unusually stern criticism of Israel in recent weeks, reflecting their frustrations with Netanyahu's right-wing government

The status quo must be making many Israelis and their friends very rich and powerful, but the overall costs are also spiraling.

Every now and then the world gets a guilty conscience and tries to pressure Israel to end apartheid. Then things return to the status quo.

I do not see a two state solution happening. Palestine has become too fragmented due to settlement building. A one state solution now seems more feasible where Israelis and Palestinians co-exist as one country. Either that or Palestinians will simply be banished into refugee camps or to Jordan. But the more likely outcome is that Palestinians will continue to be stateless in our lifetime. And Europeans will hem and haw and nothing will happen.

No wonder there was non of their teams in the champions league first round, lol. By the way, Celtic fans contributed to establish a football team in Palestine after the Hapoel Beer Sheva debacle, did it happen?

UK and Trump will change that. It's very interesting that Obama, Putin's and Netanyahu are all on different corners. The three don't like each other.

He is one of the pawns in "this game" of chess. The game player is DAJJAL (you know "him" as the ANTI-CHRIST). Preparation for rule of dajjal has being going on, and Netanyau has completed his role in the act for Dajjal to rule the world from Israel...

For this to be completed, a number of things should happen:
1. Liberate the holy land: already done
2. Bring the Jews back to the holy where they were expelled: already done
3. Restore the State of Israel: already 1948
4. Cause Israel to rule the world: next step through a big war

After that, when Israel is the ruling state of the world, then a man will stand up in Israel and declare: "I AM THE MESSIAH"

But he will not be the messiah... He will be the FALSE MESSIAH. Jews will accept him as the messiah, after all he liberated the holy land for them... The he can rub his hands together and say mission accomplished...

Then the true Messiah, Jesus Christ will return...

Watch this space.

In the meantime, many people are infantries, armed peasants or pikemen aka pawns in invisible chains...

The UN Security Council passed a resolution about three weeks ago, demanding that Israel halt the settlement programme in what are considered Palestinian lands

But Trump has promised to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem - a move that Palestinians consider debilitating to their cause.

Quote:
Jerusalem (AFP) - Palestinians on Friday stepped up their campaign to prevent President-elect Donald Trump from carrying out his pledge to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for help, while the Grand Mufti told worshippers the move would constitute an assault against Muslims worldwide.
The Palestinians consider such as move as recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, warning it would inflame tensions in the Middle East and possibly sink what remains of peace efforts.
In his Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa mosque in annexed east Jerusalem's Old City, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein warned that believers around the world would not accept such a move.
"The pledge to move the embassy is not just an assault against Palestinians but against Arabs and Muslims, who will not remain silent," he said.

West Bank settlers head to Trump inauguration - with formal invitation! What a diplomatic Coup!
Quote:
JERUSALEM — For nearly 50 years, Israel’s settler movement has been criticized, condemned and ostracized by the international community. But on Friday, they say they will be greeted with open arms as invited guests to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

A warm welcome in Washington would be by far the settlers’ greatest accomplishment in terms of gaining international legitimacy, and reflects both the extraordinary nature of the Trump era and their own evolution into a dominant political force in Israel.

“I definitely agree that we are now getting the VIP treatment, which is something that we have been working on for many years,” said Oded Revivi, chief foreign envoy of the Yesha Council, an umbrella group representing Israel’s more than 120 West Bank settlements. “You could basically argue that it has taken 50 years, since 1967, to be recognized on such a level for such an event.”

@Nandwa, can they shift United Nations from New York to Jerusalem? Now let me give you some porridge stuff...

You see, in the same way US refused to join League of Nations, eventually it collapsed, so is UN. All that the Congress has to do is to pass a resolution demanding withdrawal of US from the UN... And who controls the US Senate and the House of Representatives? Jews! So the US withdrawal from UN, do you think that is impossible? No!

When US withdraws from UN, can UN remain in New York? No! That will be the end of the UN. What about the World Bank and IMF? Israel cannot rule the world while IMF remains the premium economy institution in the world for monetary policy

So the world has to have a new monitory system... Something else which will be located in Jerusalem will replace World bank and IMF...

I hear you brother.
To answer your question above – No sir, they wouldn’t!

Even though you referenced porridge as a factor influencing your viewsLaughing out loudly Laughing out loudly
here is my take nonetheless;

Indeed as you rightly observe, the US to a very large extend controls matters at UN, - wouldn’t it then be an absurdity for them to quit membership of the world body!

The realistic thing is to stay and continue having their way as they please.

Isn’t it also obvious that the existence of UN actually benefits the US a great deal – case in point – dealing with Iran.
Taking notice of the long shot actions of one nut-case of a lawmaker from ‘the South’, then going ahead to present it as the mainstream US aspiration, is to be unfair to them.

The chances of UN headquarters ever moving to Israel is veery slim, let alone US agreeing to cede the mandate of hosting it - with all the glory and splendour that it comes with.

Though a truism, I am surprised that YOU of all people do agree that the UN would virtually collapse if US were to withdraw! Would you say the same for Russia!!

All in all almost all previous US administrations have pressured Israel to accept the two state solution with little success. Obamas almost went bare knuckles, especially in their sunset days.

But with Trump in place now, it is anybody's guess!

Whatever the case the rest of UN membership is not likely to climb down from that view point.
